A probable cause affidavit filed Friday in Allen Superior Court indicates Kayashia M. Matthews, 24, is being charged with two counts of OWI causing serious bodily injury and criminal recklessness. The crash took place on February 26 shortly after 3 a.m. at the intersection of Lima Road and Edgewood Avenue just north of the Clinton split. Investigators determined that Matthews was driving an SUV south on Edgewood when she ran a red light at Lima Road. Her SUV hit another SUV that was headed north on Lima. Two passengers in Matthews SUV were hurt as well as the driver of the other SUV. One of the passengers told police she had told Matthews to slow down prior to the crash. Following the crash, Matthews was taken to a hospital for treatment of her injuries. A blood test showed a blood alcohol content of .09 percent which is above the legal limit of .08 percent.
