TULARE, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A 15-year-old girl was arrested for allegedly making threats targeting schools - but claimed she made the post as a joke, according to the Tulare Police Department. Police say they have received several reports of school threats circulating on social media over the past two days. According to police, the posts did not identify any specific school that was targeted and there was no information the threats even originated from Tulare.  Fresno online school threats recirculate, how officials after handling surge of scares According to police, the social media messages were reposted numerous times and many commented and started making threats of their own. Police say they were able to identify a 15-year-old girl who was making threats. Officers say they contacted the girl and her parents and she was arrested for making the threats.  Police say no weapons were located during the investigation and the girl claimed she made the post as a joke. The identity of the suspect, or the charges they may be facing in response to this incident, have not been officially released.
