The fate of Chesapeake Public Schools early dismissal may be on the line after Luke Bryan's concert is officially delayed, according to the city of Chesapeake. Previous Coverage: Luke Bryan concert prompts schedule changes for Chesapeake Public Schools The Luke Bryan concert was originally scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m., but is now postponed until Sunday. Sources revealed the information ahead of its official confirmation. About an hour later, the city posted on X, confirming the new date. The change comes due to apparent muddy conditions on the fields where the concert is to be held at Heritage Park off of South Battlefield Boulevard. Although ... a muddy concert would've brought new meaning to the song "Buy Dirt." Chesapeake Public Schools announced changes for several schools, due to traffic concerns relating to the concert. Southeastern Elementary School and Hickory Elementary School were expected to operate on an early release schedule on Friday, Sept. 20, being released at 1 p.m. As of 6:18 p.m., after WAVY broke the news to Chesapeake schools, they said they don't anticipate backtracking from the early weekend, but are awaiting the official announcement to come to a decision.
