AUSTIN (KXAN) -- A 42-year-old man was arrested in connection with a sexual assault that allegedly happened in May while he was driving for a rideshare company, according to an arrest affidavit. Court documents identified the rideshare driver as Maurys Madruga-Mesa. KXAN reached out to Madruga-Mesa's attorney for comment. We will update this article if a statement is received. Maurys Madruga-Mesa (Courtesy Austin Police Department) The alleged assault happened on May 6 when the victim requested a rideshare in south Austin to their residence, according to the affidavit. The victim told the Austin Police Department they were assaulted multiple times by Madruga-Mesa during the rideshare service. The victim alleged that while Madruga-Mesa acknowledged he was doing something wrong, he continued with the assault, court documents said. The victim told police Madruga-Mesa took backroads and was stalling to get to their residence, according to the affidavit. When he got closer to the victim's residence, the victim said they were able to get out of the vehicle. Madruga-Mesa then quickly turned around and drove away, according to claims in the affidavit. Investigators requested information on Madruga-Mesa's vehicle from the rideshare. He received a DNA search warrant and investigators questioned him, court records said. KXAN reached out to the rideshare company for comment. We will update this if a statement is received. On Sept. 13, Madruga-Mesa was arrested and booked into the Travis County Jail on a $40,000 bond, according to online court records.
