MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) – The Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD) is investigating a murder that left an 18-year-old woman dead in Montgomery Village Wednesday. Police said the woman was found at a home along Calypso Place and Neighbors told DC News Now that they're shocked because the Flower Hill neighborhood is usually quiet. “We’ve lived here for 41 years and we’ve never had an incident like this,” Joann Eastlack said. Longtime Potomac restaurant closing at end of September They said it’s heartbreaking to know that an 18-year-old was killed in their neighborhood. “I could not imagine losing a family member that young,” Pat, another neighbor, said. Neighbors said they started to worry when they saw a large presence of emergency personnel so close to their homes Wednesday evening. “We came back from babysitting our grandchildren and we saw a police car parked here,” Tom Eastlack said. 32nd annual Poolesville Day to bring community fun Pat said she saw nothing but police cars everywhere. “I was a little concerned about what might be going on because I know people down there,” she said. Neighbors said despite this tragic incident, they still feel safe. “One occurrence in such a long time does not indicate that it’s going to be a continuing concern," Tom Eastlack said. Jolly Shows Carnival returns to Clarksburg Joann Eastlack said she's not concerned. “But the only way things are going to change is if people change,” she said. MCPD said its investigation is still ongoing.
