FORT RILEY (KSNT) - Fort Riley is inviting the community on the base for its annual fall festival. The annual Fall Apple Festival at Fort Riley is back offering the public a fun, family-friendly open house for the military installation, according to a news release from Fort Riley. At the festival, community members can see military vehicles up-close, watch demonstrations by explosive ordnance disposal soldiers, a performance from the Commanding General's Mounted Color Guard, military working dogs and musical performances as well as activities for all ages. This year, the festival is introducing a mechanical bull ride and scheduled Zumba classes. Community members may remember past attractions, like carriage rides from the CGMCG mule team and all three types of aircraft used in the 1st Combat Aviation Brigade which will make a comeback in 2024, according to the news release. KTA warns customers of possible scam text messages The fall festival will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5. At 10 a.m., Fort Riley's Survivor Outreach Services will honor the fallen soldiers with a song and balloon release in front of the main stage. Parking for the festival will be available at Riley's Community Center, 466 Seitz Ave. off of Huebner Road. According to the news release, no pets or outside alcohol are allowed. If you do not have a Dod ID card, you can stop by the Visitor Control Center (Exit 301 off of I-70) to get a pass in person, or apply online. For more local news, click here.
