PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Veterans Affairs Providence is hosting an awareness summit on suicide prevention in the veteran community. VA Providence will have expert speakers and interactive discussions during the summit. There will also be a suicide prevention awareness walk along the VA campus. That summit starts at 9 a.m. at VA providence on Chalkstone Avenue. Operation Stand Down Rhode Island is also set to kick off its annual outreach event to support veterans in need. The two-day event will provide numerous resources to those veterans such as housing, employment healthcare services and more. The Rhode Island judiciary will also be holding special court sessions for veterans to help alleviate any unresolved matters. The event will be held at OSDRI’s Johnston headquarters starting at 8 a.m. this morning and Governor Dan McKee will be serving lunch to the veterans at noon. Categories: News, Rhode Island
