Austin Police investigating after body found near Lady Bird Lake

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department is investigating after finding a deceased person in east Austin near Lady Bird Lake on Wednesday afternoon.
Officers responded to the 2700 block of Canterbury Street, with homicide detectives heading to the location. In a social media post, APD shared it will be hosting a media briefing to release more information after detectives arrive on scene.

Officers responded to the area shortly before 3 p.m. and found a dead body, an APD spokesperson told KXAN. The Travis County Medical Examiner's Office will determine the cause of death, the spokesperson added.
No additional information has been shared at this time.

Around 2;57 p.m., apd received a check welfare call in regards to a person near the lake
Officers responded and located an obviously deceased individual
APD homicide detectives responded and investigated. Person had no signs of trauma, no suspicion of foul play and is not being investigated as a homicide this time.
There is no indication the body was in the water.
Cannot confirm whether the body was a man or a woman. Don't know how long the body has been out there. ME will do more in-depth forensic exam to narrow down a time of death.
