BATTLEGROUND, Ind. — A motorcycle rider from Monticello is fighting for his life after being struck by a car on Thursday morning. The Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Department said the collision occurred around 6:40 a.m. in the 4500 block of Pretty Prairie Road near the town of Battleground. No patience: Avon drivers remove barricade, drive through fresh pavement Investigators determined a Dodge Charger, driven by a 22-year-old from Lafayette, attempted to pass a vehicle and struck a Honda motorcycle that was traveling in the opposite direction. The 33-year-old motorcycle driver was flown to an Indianapolis hospital with life-threatening injuries. The sheriff's department said the motorcycle driver was wearing a helmet. The driver of the Charger was not injured. The roadway was closed for nearly three hours as police investigated the crash. Toxicology tests are pending and the crash remains under investigation.
