Nursing homes urged to protect residents with updated COVID vaccine
Sep 18, 2024
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Nursing homes in New York are being urged to protect residents with the updated COVID-19 vaccine.
The NYS Department of Health sent letters out to nursing facilities about the updated vaccine to protect elderly residents from severe illness or death.
This comes after the FDA recently approved the 2024-2025 Pfizer, Moderna, and Novavax vaccines prior to the beginning of respiratory illness season. The CDC recommended for adults 65 or older to get the updated vaccine.
Health leaders are also encouraging residents to get vaccinated against RSV and the Flu. You can find more information about these vaccines on the Monroe County Department of Health's website.
