TERREBONNE PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Deputies with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office are warning residents about a phone scam that involves people impersonating the sheriff's office and asking for money. TPSO officials said the scam involves a caller who identifies themselves as a TPSO employee and asks for money related to an outstanding warrant. Music lineup announced for New Orleans’ 2024 National Fried Chicken Festival Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet said his office will never request money over the phone, and all sheriff's office-related business is handled in person at local offices. Soignet also advises that the TPSO does not accept gift cards, online payment, bitcoin or any other form of electronic payment. ‘Largest renewable natural gas production plant in the world’ expected in St. John the Baptist Parish TPSO deputies said anyone who receives a suspicious call from someone requesting money in those ways should be treated as a scam, and residents should not make any payment to the caller.
