PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) -- A man is facing second-degree murder charges in connection to an early August shooting in Petersburg. Two shootings the Petersburg Bureau of Police determined to be related took place the afternoon of Tuesday, Aug. 6. At about 1 p.m. on Tuesday, officers responded to the 200 block of Holly Hill Drive and found Devere McKinney, who had been shot. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died. PREVIOUS: Petersburg shooting victim dies, police link incident to other shooting with second victim A second shooting call came in as investigators worked the Holly Hill Drive scene. Officers who responded to the 900 block of Winfield Road found an unidentified female victim who had also been shot. Her injuries were not considered life-threatening. On Tuesday, Sept. 17, 34-year-old Jamal Burrows was arrested in Hopewell in connection to the Holly Hill Drive shooting with the assistance of the United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force. According to police, he was charged with second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and the possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Police did not say if Burrows is thought to have been involved in the Winfield Road shooting. No other information is available at this time.
