CATAWBA, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Catawba County Sheriff’s deputy collided with several vehicles in a parking lot of a Bandys community business Sunday afternoon, video surveillance confirms what authorities have reported.  According to the N.C. State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred just before 4:30 p.m. on Sherrills Ford Road near East Bandys Cross Road. The deputy was reportedly traveling north while proceeding to a call and attempted to avoid colliding with a vehicle that was exiting the Dollar General parking lot.  The sheriff's office reported that it was a domestic-related call. Search warrants ‘now public record’ in Asha Degree investigation The driver of the sheriff's vehicle, a Dodge Durango, was identified as 23-year-old Jarrett Carl Isaac. Troopers said the maneuver caused the deputy to lose control of the vehicle, crossing the center line, drive off the left side of the road, and strike several cars in the Goldmine Store and Grill parking lot, located across the street. Isaac was transported to Catawba Valley Medical Center with minor injuries.  Troopers said the sheriff’s vehicle did not have emergency equipment activated, and that speed is a contributing factor to the collision. Surveillance video from the Gold Mine Store shows a second sheriff's office vehicle traveling ahead of the one from the accident. An occupant of one of the struck parked vehicles received minor injuries.    During the on-scene investigation, the roadway was closed in the area for approximately two hours. Possible charges are pending upon completion of the ongoing investigation and consultation with the Catawba County District Attorney’s Office.
