FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The Fresno Police Department announced Tuesday that officers are aware of several school threats recirculated on social media platforms starting Monday night. The department says the posts were investigated and found to be the same threats made on a previous occasion and do not appear to be credible. Recent school shooting threats seen around the Central Valley, why? Police say they will have a uniform presence around the schools throughout the day. In 2023, following a series of "swatting" threats directed at Clovis West High School, YourCentralValley.com asked the Fresno County District Attorney's Office what criminal charges could be faced by the person responsible. At the time, Fresno County District Attorney’s Office revealed that cases like this are often charged as “criminal threats.” That charge carries a maximum term of three years in prison. The person or persons responsible for this latest threat being investigated by the Fresno Police Department has not been officially identified.
