AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) - A truck crashed into a home on Suffield Street in Agawam. A 22News crew saw the damaged home located at 971 Suffield Street, on the corner of Calico Lane as crews were able to remove the truck from the home's basement which caused significant damage. Two arrested, several injured after fight at The Big E in West Springfield Agawam Fire Chief Alan Sirois told 22News that the truck lost control at around 6:28 a.m. Tuesday morning before lodging itself into the home compromising its structural integrity. Crews had to create a wooden support beam to allow the tow truck to remove the vehicle from the home safely without it collapsing. The man inside of the truck hit a mailbox, drove into a neighbor’s yard leaving significant tire marks, and then had enough momentum to launch itself across the street and into the home. Thankfully no one was injured inside of the home. The man driving the truck was taken to a nearby hospital and is expected to survive. The resident at the home, Nick Sircar told 22News, “It was like an explosion. It hit my bedroom and I was like what just happened? He was going at a good rate of speed and he jumped over the street. When I got out he was already out of the truck, he told me he couldn’t remember it happening." Sircar told 22News that they hope to find accessible temporary housing since his father is in a wheelchair and needs certain accommodations to get around freely.
