SWANSEA, Mass. (WLNE) — Two small business owners in Swansea are scratching their heads after their coffee cart was vandalized and the whole incident was caught on camera. Laura Finn and her husband Kyle started Rea’s with a quaint little coffee cart on Wilbur Avenue three years ago, serving up fresh cold brew. “It has been busy, the community has been so welcoming over the last three years and we’ve been so lucky,” said Finn. In just a short time, the couple has been successful with their business and opened up another location nearby. “Now we have a brick and mortar right across the street, but we love the outdoor space that we have here and it’s just so nostalgic to sit outside and have your coffee here,” said Finn. “I love it here.” Finn posted this security footage on social media showing a man walking up to the cart and slashing the tires Friday night just before 8:30 and needless to say, they were shocked. “It’s weird, it’s obviously something that seems personal, whatever it is is one-sided,” explained Finn. “I’m not sure what the motive would be, strange behavior though.” Finn and her husband have no idea who the guy is and put the video out to see if anyone may recognize him. “It’s not that big of a deal, I think it will be a couple hundred bucks if this was some kid or something we probably would’ve just replaced them and moved on but I think the most shocking part about this is its an adult and we don’t know why,” The Swansea Police Department is now investigating the incident but Finn said there is a silver lining in this strange inconvenience. “The outreach, the dm’s, just the traction on the post, really made me realize how loved we are here and that’s been so nice,” said Finn.
