Three Hurt From Accident On I485 Outer In North Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Three people were seriously injured in an accident that shut down multiple lanes on I-485 Outer in north Charlotte on Sunday afternoon.
Three of the four lanes are closed before Exit 32 at North Tryon Street. As of 2:40 p.m., traffic is backed up past the University City Boulevard exit.
Two people were transported with life-threatening injuries while the third had serious injuries, according to Medic. It is unclear what caused the accident or how many vehicles were involved.
I-485 is expected to fully reopen around 6:45 p.m., according to the NCDOT. The accident is expected to have a high impact on traffic. Drivers should seek alternate routes at this time.
