ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Members of Immaculate Conception/St. Bridget's Church are celebrating 175 years in the community Saturday night. Originally a church of Irish immigrants, the Catholic church has one of the largest African American congregations in Rochester.  The shift in congregants mirrored the change in the community where the church is located on Frederick Douglass Street.  The beautiful Roman Catholic church stands as a symbol of resilience and progress in what is known today as the Corn Hill Neighborhood.   They’ve been celebrating their anniversary throughout the year with events for the community.  Saturday, many of the parishioners will put on their special outfits at an evening gala full of musical entertainment, dancing, smiles and fun.
