MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Police say a father and son were able to catch one of two burglars they caught stealing from their Summer Avenue property late Sunday night. Christopher Jones, 36, was taken into custody and charged with burglary of a business and burglary of a vehicle. Christopher Jones(SCSO) The victims said they were driving down Summer when they spotted Jones inside a truck parked next to their building in Highland Heights. They said Jones was removing the seats from the back of the vehicle. The owner of what used to be Nationwide Investment Group said he also noticed the fence around the property had been damaged, and another man was trying to get inside the back of the business. 2400 block of Summer Avenue The father and son said they confronted the suspects and began fighting them. Police said they were able to subdue Jones until officers arrived. Hadam Afaneh owns Jerusalem Auto Shop next door. He wasn't surprised to hear about the arrest. He said they have vandalized vehicles and damaged his building, trying to get inside. "People drink, smoke, walk over here. Homeless people," said Afaneh. "They steal everything you leave outside. If they see it, they take it." Afaneh said he wished officers could do more to patrol the area because his business is suffering.
