(GREEN MOUNTAIN FALLS, Colo.) — The Annual Bronc Day Festival is back for another year in Green Mountain Falls and kicks off Saturday, July 27 at 7 a.m. The festival has been a fixture in the small mountain community every summer since 1939. The event began as a way to kick off tourist season and to celebrate runners who were staying in Green Mountain Falls while training for the Vertical Mile Marathon, now known as the Pikes Peak Marathon and Ascent. 85 years later, the festival remains a beloved tradition that celebrates the town's history. Festivities will take place throughout the day beginning with a pancake breakfast; there will also be a magician, face painting, art vendors, and a pie contest that FOX21 Evening Anchor Scott Kilbury will judge.
