(KRON) -- A Bay Area man was sentenced Friday to five years in federal prison for purchasing and receiving child sexual abuse material, the U.S. Department of Justice announced. Federal prosecutors said Gianbernardo Florendo, 36, of Millbrae, had hundreds of CSAM videos and images on his phone. Flo rendo pleaded guilty on June 26 to receipt of child pornography and possession of pornography. The offender admitted in his plea agreement that between March 2022 and Aug. 2023, he used the chat app Telegram to receive the material. Man convicted in fatal Daly City stabbing granted parole “He sent payments via PayPal to foreign sellers of CSAM to gain access to groups and chats on Telegram containing CSAM,” the DOJ wrote. Florendo would also engage in sexualized chats while pretending to be a minor, according to prosecutors. U.S. District Judge Trina L.
