Donald Trump’s house of cards is tumbling down, and he does not want the world to see his meltdown. The Trump administration and the GOP suffered devastating losses during the 2026 midterm elections. Now Democrats will once again control Congress, wielding the power to thwart his MAGA agenda. The president promised Republicans Election Day victories. The complete opposite unfolded on Nov. 3. He claimed his party would have won by a “landslide” had he been on the ballot. As races were called in favor of Democratic candidates in swing states like Georgia, Michigan, Arizona, formerly red Texas, and others, Trump hunkered down away from those gathered at the White House. Instead, he was humbled and left seething in his private residence, according to the Daily Mail. Trump accused the same outlet of twisting his words during his Reflecting Pool speech, is now pitching the idea of naming the pool after him. Two women were by his side throughout the evening, chief of staff Susie Wiles and executive aide Natalie Harp, as the votes rolled in. First lady Melania Trump was reportedly nowhere near her husband as Republicans were humiliated. Cabinet members filed into the East Room watch party with catering from The Cheesecake Factory — yet another one of the administration’s attempts to get the last laugh at former President Barack Obama’s joke comparing the White House to the restaurant chain known for its golden palace-like decor. The blue wave allegedly was too much for many to bear by 10 p.m., and so staffers began to leave. “It’s very, very dark in the residence. It’s a dark scene,” a senior official purportedly told the publication. Trump seethed with rage after he “delusionally” believed Republicans would win. The following day, his public schedule did not indicate any plans for him to appear in public. “Good! I hope he’s stewing in it,” an X user tweeted. “He’s a coward and a bad loser. Very weak man,” another user wrote. A third critic commented, “That isn’t a man. That’s a baby lmao.” Meanwhile, a fourth reaction read, “I have said, Trump won’t be happy. You guys did the right thing stripping him of total power. There will be consequences though. It’s going to get reeeeeal messy.” By noon, Nov. 4, Trump had moved on to the ballroom construction site for an impromptu update on the project. During his speech, he promised it would be “the most beautiful ballroom anywhere in the world.” He avoided remarks about the midterm upset. Meanwhile, his Truth Social posts from the night before and the morning after expressed his disappointment and fury with Fox News, Republican and Democratic candidates. Hillary Clinton lost the 2016 presidential race against Trump. She foresaw him “lashing out,” warning he’d “feel cornered” if Republicans were defeated on “The View.” Trump continued raging at reporters on calls after Election Day, as did the White House, who sent a stern message about who was still in charge. “PSA: TRUMP IS STILL YOUR PRESIDENT,” the caption read.
