We told you about the Boise Farmers Market’s planned move to the Idaho Botanical Garden’s back in September of las t year, and now, this Saturday, the Boise Farmers Market is set to open its first Winter Market of the season at 2355 N Old Penitentiary Rd., in Boise on Saturday, Nov. 7. “As the valley continues to grow, it is hard to find the perfect spot for everyone to have their ideal travel to. Unfortunately, our current location was no longer an option, and the possibilities with the permanence at the Idaho Botanical Garden will allow us to expand programming and opportunities at the market for vendors and shoppers,” The Boise Farmers Market said on its Facebook page. “Our farmers, ranchers, and local producers are going to make the extra 2-mile journey to our new market home, some traveling from nearly 100 miles away, and hope our shoppers will follow their lead.” The Boise Farmer Market Winter Market will be open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the final market of the season set for December 19th. This new location is now the permanent home for the Boise Farmers Market, running from April to December annually. BFM’s Winter Market features over 70+ local vendors selling late-fall produce (squash, potatoes, onions, greens, and more), breads, meats, pastries, pasta, and much more. This year’s market will include an indoor/outdoor layout, with a large canopy with over 40+ vendors inside and an exterior market with 20+ additonal vendors. The BFM Drive-thru will also be open for Winter Market. Pickup times are from 8:45 a.m. to 10:30 am.The Boise Farmers Market’s summer market was previously held for years in a parking lot on Shoreline Dr. in Boise. The area has been marked for potential future development, as BoiseDev has reported.BoiseDev first reported on the Garden’s new master plan in 2023, followed by an update on the groundbreaking for Phase 1 last December. Our most recent update was on the first phase of the project opening to the public in September. The next phase of the master plan calls for a 22,000-square-foot visitor, events, and education center, which can accommodate between 450 and 650 people. Plans also include a therapeutic garden that will host wellness classes and events, a scholar garden, a newly expanded culinary garden, along with additional garden and community spaces. The full expansion project is slated for three phases encompassing over 32 acres of the garden. The second phase is currently on undeveloped land, while the third is a plan to update existing garden features. During all phases of the expansion, the garden will be open to the public to enjoy. ...read more read less
