One person is dead and six others are injured following a mass shooting at a "packed" Spirit Halloween store in a Fairfield shopping center on Friday night. Authorities believe the incident was a targeted attack by a single assailant and that there is no ongoing danger to the public. As the Chronicle reports, the shooting occurred on Friday evening at a Spirit Halloween store in Solano Town Center. Officers arrived on scene by 8:30pm, where they found one victim dead and three others with critical injuries. In total, seven people were shot. Despite continuing to search for a suspect, Fairfield Police Chief Dan Marshall asserted in a statement on Saturday that the incident does not represent an ongoing threat to the public.“Detectives continue to actively investigate this case, reviewing video footage and other evidence to identify the individual responsible for this heinous act of violence,” the statement continued. “Currently, we are not releasing additional details about the incident.”Meanwhile, NBC Bay Area reports that a manhunt for the suspect is presently underway.According to witnesses who spoke with the Chronicle, around a dozen customers hid in the rear of the store after the shooting started. Javier Espinoza — who was shopping for decor for his Shrek-themed Halloween party — said he and his girlfriend, Alicia Reyes, eventually escaped by lifting a security fence and crawling under the barrier. Once outside, Espinoza shared that a motorist waiting to give a friend a lift agreed to drive the two to safety. Rep. John Garamendi, whose jurisdiction includes Fairfield, also issued a statement and promised his office's assistance:“I’m praying for the seven victims and their families, as well as the wider Fairfield community who are still struggling with this devastating situation. What should have been a weekend of celebration has turned into a tragedy. This horrific situation should never have happened, and I will do everything in my power to ensure it never happens again."Related: In-N-Out Employee Killed In Idaho Mass Shooting Identified as Central Valley Woman ...read more read less
