O’Shea Jackson Jr. Sparks a Firestorm After One Comment Has Folks Piling on Dad Ice Cube Over New Film

Thanksgiving dinner could get awkward for the Jackson family after O’Shea Jackson Jr. called out his father.
While many Hollywood stars use their influence to open doors for their children, Jackson Jr. suggested his dad has not.
Following news about Ice Cube‘s involvement in the next “Fr
iday” film, O’Shea says he’s calling in reinforcements.

Reports confirmed that Cube will return and reprise his role as Craig Jones in the fourth “Friday” film.
He will also produce the movie, alongside “One of Them Days” director Lawrence Lamont. Fans online describe Lamont’s movie starring Keke Palmer and SZA as a female version of Craig and Smokey.

Jackson Jr. is the oldest of Ice Cube and Kimberly’s five kids. He’s built an impressive Hollywood résumé over the past decade, starring in films like “Ingrid Goes West,” “Den of Thieves” and “Cocaine Bear.” He even portrayed his dad in “Straight Outta Compton.”
But it seems he’s still fighting to use the “nepo baby” status he often defends.
“I haven’t received any emails or calls from my agent about this project…….I swear…. to God……I will call mom,” Jackson Jr. wrote on X after learning about “Last Friday.”
His replies filled up with people showing supporting saying, “My boy with that call mama flex” and “Put that Pressure on Pops.”
Another piled on, “Pops is doing you dirty. Leak the script.”
His post also opened the door to people roasting the family, saying, Damn! This the kinda of nepotism that if you laugh you must be dead inside this shit hilarious. I can see cube saying call her little punk lmao.”
Another advised, “Challenge him to a stare-down across the table at Thanksgiving until he hands over a script.”
Still, Ice Cube’s oldest son isn’t shy about his “nepo baby” status.
In April, he joked that joining “Ride Along 3” would be “100 percent Nepotism” after news broke that his dad and Kevin Hart were in talks to return.
Jackson Jr.’s also quick to defend his father, just like his clap back at a fan who claimed his dad peaked in the ’90s.
“Last Friday” will be filmed in Southern California with $11.4 million in state incentives, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The project will be filmed over 40-days with 43 cast members and 150 crew.
Longtime fans are also eager to know whether Chris Tucker will reprise his iconic role as Smokey.
In the original “Friday,” chaos ensues after Smokey (Chris Tucker) encourages his friend Craig (Ice Cube), who has recently lost his job, to smoke marijuana.
Ironically, smoking pot is the exact reason Tucker chose not to return for the following films. Instead, comedian Mike Epps replaced him in “Next Friday” and “Friday After Next.”
In a 2021 interview with All Urban Central, Tucker explained that he turned down the sequels because he no longer wanted to promote substance use.
“I said, ‘I don’t wanna represent everybody smoking weed,’” he shared.” And that’s one of the reasons why I said ‘Nah.’ I didn’t wanna keep doing that character. It probably was good for me because it kept me moving to the next phase and next movies.”
Tucker admitted he never wanted to make sequels. He wanted to make the first film, do well, and move on.
But three years after “Friday,” Tucker co-starred with Jackie Chan in the action-comedy film “Rush Hour.” The duo went on to star in two sequels. This year, they confirmed plans to reunite for a fourth installment.
One person who wants to see Tucker wrote, “Great director and writer. Please bring Chris Tucker back.”
“Friday After Next” was released in 2002, and since then fans have been getting the runaround for a follow-up.
There is no word yet on which cast members will return for the fourth film, but Tucker recently gave fans reason to hope he might reprise his role.
Rumors circulated that Tucker declined to reprise his role as Smokey because of the pay. However, he refuted the claims in an interview with All Urban Central, and Ice Cube also pushed back against the rumors on Twitter.
In a 2021 post, he responded to a fan who asked him about the rumor.
Ice Cube said, “We were ready to pay Chris Tucker $10-12m to do Next Friday but he turned us down for religious reasons. He didn’t want to cuss or smoke weed on camera anymore.”
The following year, “Wild ’N Out” star DC Young Fly claimed on “Club Shay Shay” that Tucker told him he would only return for another “Friday” film. But only if DC Young Fly played his son.
Tucker did not confirm or deny that claim.
The new film has been in the works for about 15 years. The delay was partly tied to a dispute with Warner Bros. over the rights to the “Friday” franchise, which Cube sought to reclaim.
Ice Cube has claimed that Warner Bros. rejected multiple scripts he submitted for the sequel. He has also said the studio wants him to buy back the franchise rights, a deal he has refused. He argued that the company should return them to him because he co-created the original film.
“Last Friday” is slated to be released in 2027.
