HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A Henrico County thrift store is recovering after management says a van rammed into their building, causing significant damage.
Around 9 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 26, officers with the Henrico County Police Division were called to the 7200 block of W. Broad Street for a rep
orted crash.
When officers arrived, they found a vehicle that had crashed into the side of a building.
On Tuesday, Oct. 27, West End Thrift -- a thrift store and ministry of West End Assembly of God -- took to Facebook to say that a van "rammed through [its] side wall and into the store" on Monday.
The driver, 37-year-old Pedro Hernandez of Henrico, was found near the car, police said. Officers noticed signs of intoxication and conducted a field sobriety test.
They shared videos of the incident, including clips of the large hole the crash caused and damage to products inside.

Thankfully, there was minimal loss of merchandise, according to a second Facebook post made on Wednesday, Oct. 27. Police said Hernandez had non-life-threatening injuries from the crash.
He was arrested and charged with falsely identifying himself to law enforcement, probation violation on a misdemeanor offense and a fourth or subsequent driving while intoxicated, according to police.
The store is temporarily closed as staff work to recover from this incident. As of Wednesday evening, management hopes to reopen on Friday, Oct. 30.
"Thank you for your patience, encouragement, and prayers as we work hard to give you your favorite thrift store back," West End Thrift said.
