(BCN) -- Thursday in the Bay Area calls for mostly cloudy skies during the day, with patchy fog in some parts of the region, according to the National Weather Service. Daytime highs will be mostly in the mid 60s to low 70s. Overnight lows will be in the low to mid 50s. Forecasters say the Bay Area will see cloudy skies and cool temperatures on Thursday, with only a slight chance of light rain and a risk of minor coastal flooding during high tide. Winds are expected to remain light, with some breezier conditions in favored areas during the afternoon and evening. The weather service says a deep layer of dry air makes it unlikely that much rain will reach the ground. Any precipitation may evaporate before reaching the surface, a phenomenon known as virga. Forecasters do not rule out rain entirely, but any amounts are expected to be limited to a few sprinkles or hundredths of an inch, mainly on mountaintops. The weather service also warns of possible minor coastal flooding at high tide along the shores of San Pablo, San Francisco and Monterey bays, as well as the Pacific coast.
