File this under “ridiculous reasons to call the police.” A white couple at a Ruby Tuesday restaurant called 911 on a Black manager, apparently to get out of paying for a plate of ribs. A stunned bystander, who believed the manager’s race was a factor, confronted the wannabe freeloaders a nd caught the exchange on camera. White couple calls police over a plate of Ruby Tuesday ribs. (Photo: X/ @RoyIsThaTruth) The video, posted to X on Oct. 25 by King Roy, is racking up tens of thousands of views. In the clip, the bystander approached their booth with her cellphone out: “I just want to make sure I got your face on camera. This is the face of entitlement.” Seemingly clueless about his antics, the man asked, “… of what?” Nordstrom Bans Black Luxury CEO from Stores, Warns of Police Action After Racial Profiling Claim ‘Oooh, the Nerve!’: Woman Caught on Video Stealing Black Neighbor’s Water to Spray Lawn Gets Costly Surprise He said if he refused to pay $30 for ribs, the manager would call the police, and he was beating her to the punch. He said, “I think they’ll say the meal should be comped because the ribs are burned.” The bystander offered to pick up their tab, hoping to spare the manager a visit from the police for simply doing her job.  “White people use the police as a threat on Black lives,” read a banner that flashed across the video. While that might seem hyperbolic, the data on what happens after police arrive is sobering. A 2022 study published in the American Economic Review analyzed 1.6 million emergency dispatches across two U.S. cities. The findings showed that when officers respond to a 911 call, Black civilians are 55% more likely to experience police use of force than their white counterparts in the same scenario. Dispatchers don’t automatically send officers to questionable calls. They first gather information over the phone, and officers generally need a lawful basis to investigate. His attempt to weaponize the police over ribs likely would have fizzled quickly. But a manager shouldn’t have to wonder how that 911 call might end. And a stranger made sure of it. She said it best herself: “Calling the police on a manager of a Ruby Tuesday over some ribs. Ain’t no way.” View this post on Instagram A post shared by Atlanta Black Star (@atlblackstar) Couple Calls 911 Over a Plate of Ribs, Gets Dragged on Camera in Wild Ruby Tuesday Meltdown ...read more read less
