HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) -- The search is still on in Hopewell for two suspects in an armed robbery on Friday, Oct. 23, that police called "very coordinated."
Police said two suspects in dark clothing entered the gas station convenience store at 5201 Oaklawn Blvd. around 9:45 Friday night. They were ar
med, and police said they assaulted the employee working.
"They reported being kind of roughed up a little bit," said Lt. Israel Perez with the Hopewell Police Department. "And threatened with those firearms to cooperate."

Police said they stole between $10,000 and $12,000 in cash. They said it's not unusual for a store like that to have so much cash on hand, especially because they have an ATM and gaming machines. Police said those factors could have made the store a target.
The store's owner declined to speak with 8News.
The two suspects ran away, but police said they've identified a vehicle of interest. They believe the suspects are both men.
Perez said the area isn't one in Hopewell where police see a lot of crime, and that sticks out to them.
"How they did it, and in such a well-traveled area, without concern of being caught," Perez said. "That's a question that we ask ourselves. They were willing to risk everything for that crime."
Perez said the department has increased patrols in the area.
