(KRON) -- A Concord woman had an active domestic violence restraining order against her husband when he attacked her with a knife, prosecutors revealed Tuesday. Thomas John Iovenitti, 40, is now charged with murdering his wife, Alisha Iovenitti.
"At the time of the alleged homicide, he was out of c
ustody on bail in a pending domestic violence case," the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office wrote.
Concord Police Department officers responded to a 911 call from a house on Panoramic Drive in Concord just before 9 p.m. on October 23.
"When the officers attempted to contact occupants of the house, no one responded, and the officers forced entry into the home. Despite lifesaving efforts, the woman died at the scene," CPD wrote.
Five months before Alisha Iovenitti's violent death, prosecutors charged her husband with assault, corporal injury to a spouse, and false imprisonment.
"On May 19th, over the objection of the District Attorney’s Office, a judge set Iovenitti’s bail at$1,000. The court also issued stay-away orders barring him from contacting his wife or returningto the family’s residence," the DA's office wrote.

The husband is slated to be arraigned Wednesday afternoon at the Contra Costa County Superior Court Annex in Martinez. He remains in custody at Martinez Detention Facility, this time, without bail.
