Because the NFC East is a very bad division, the Eagles are probably going to mathematically be in the division race for a while. But you saw it on Monday night: They’re cooked. The Eagles lost 38-21 to the Cowboys on Monday night to fall to 2-5 on this miserable season. Let’s get to th e grades: Quarterback Tanner McKee: 23/35, 211 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 79.6 passer rating In his second start, Tanner McKee looked a little more comfortable in this game and made some nice throws. He also seemed to command the offense pretty well. But he had his misses like a crucial one to a wide-open Darius Cooper in the 2-minute drill to end the first half. He also threw a killer interception on a nice play from Cowboys LB DeMarvion Overshown. At least McKee was able to lead the Eagles on a touchdown drive to open the third quarter — their first such drive to open a second half all season. Grade: C- Running back Saquon Barkley: 7 attempts, 62 yards, 1 TD After entering the game with a hamstring injury, Saquon Barkley’s back began to act up during this game and he wasn’t able to finish. That’s a shame because even though he wasn’t near 100%, Barkley was still giving the Eagles a spark. The Eagles had more rushing yards in the first half than they had in the previous two games combined. Dameon Pierce ended up with 14 carries for 47 yards and a touchdown but then he got banged up too. So the Eagles were down to Elijah Mitchell late in this game. He’s basically their sixth-string running back who was brought back to the practice squad a week ago. Grade: B Receiver Makai Lemon: 7 catches on 8 targets, 67 yards, 1 TD The Eagles came into this game without DeVonta Smith (hamstring) and Dontayvion Wicks (ankle). But Makai Lemon ended up having the best game of his young career and was a chains-mover for the offense. Lemon is a tough player. Hollywood Brown was active and had 2 catches on 5 targets for 30 yards. Darius Cooper had 1 catch for 17 and Elijah Moor head 2 for 16. Grade: C- Tight end Dallas Goedert: 5 catches on 7 targets, 48 yards Despite a knee injury that kept him out the first two days of practice this week, Goedert was able to play and make an impact. It just wasn’t enough. The Eagles ran some heavy packages with Johnny Mundt and Grant Calcaterra on the field and even got Eli Stowers some run. The rookie made his NFL debut and had a target but didn’t get a catch; he ran a nice clear out route on a mesh concept. Grade: C Offensive line The Eagles welcomed back Landon Dickerson after missing the last five games on IR, which meant they had their fifth different OL combination of the 2026 season: Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Drew Kendall, Tyler Steen, Markel Bell. While Dickerson was extremely hard on himself for two plays late in the game, he was moving better than when we last saw him in Week 1. The protection seemed to hold up for McKee until the very end of the game and the Eagles were able to finally get a little something going in the run game. Grade: C Defensive line Moro Ojomo: 5 tackles The Eagles finished this game without a sack, QB or tackle for loss. That’s simply inexcusable for a defensive line like this. And it started because they were getting absolutely gashed in the run game. The Eagles gave up 204 yards on the ground to a Cowboys offense that came into this game ranked 30th in the NFL in rushing. The Eagles came into this game banged up at the edge rusher spot. They were without Nolan Smith (concussion) but Jalyx Hunt (knee/ankle) and Jonathan Greenard (ankle) were able to play limited snaps. Grade: F Linebacker Zack Baun: 9 tackles, 1 PBU The poor run defense obviously started up front but the linebackers weren’t able to stop Javonte Williams once he got going downhill. Williams ended up rushing for 155 yards on 25 carries. The Eagles continued to rotation Jihaad Campbell and Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at the linebacker spot next to Zack Baun. Grade: D Secondary Quinyon Mitchell: 8 targets, 3 receptions, 24 yards, PBU Through seven games, the one player on the Eagles’ defense who has been living up to expectations is Quinyon Mitchell. The All-Pro cornerback has played at that level in Year 3 but he’s really the only one. Riq Woolen was getting picked on in this game and gave up 5 catches on 7 targets for a career-high 111 yards, per NextGen Stats. Dak Prescott completed 15 of 27 passes for 212 yards with 3 touchdowns. He hit some beautiful throws in this game despite some tight coverage. Grade: D Special teams Braden Mann: 3 punts, average 50.0, long 61, 3 inside 20 The Eagles did some good and some bad on special teams. The good was Braden Mann, who got off three really great punts that were all downed inside the 20-yard line. His first punt downed the Cowboys at their own 2-yard line and led to one of two stops for the Eagles’ defense. The bad was that the Eagles could not handle those knuckleball kicks. Britain Covey left the game with a knee injury and then Dameon Pierce and Elijah Mitchell struggled to give the Eagles good field position on kickoffs. Grade: C Coaching Record: 2-5 This might be hard to believe based on the first six weeks of the season, but Sean Mannion saved the Eagles’ coaching staff from an F in this game. Because the Eagles’ offense actually did some good things in this one. They seemed to have some more answers (against a bad Cowboys defense) with Tanner McKee at quarterback. They were able to move the football. But that defensive performance was atrocious and Vic Fangio deserves some blame too. The Eagles couldn’t get any pressure on Prescott and when that’s the case, Fangio has to be willing to mix it up to manufacture some pressure and try to help his players make big plays.
