One man was killed and two others were injured in a rollover crash in Del Mar this weekend and authorities suspect drunk driving played a role in the crash, sheriff’s officials said Saturday.
Deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office’s North Coastal station responded to the 2900 b
lock of Camino Del Mar at about 9:40 p.m. Friday, where they found that a vehicle driven by a woman with two male passengers had rolled over and crashed in the front yard of a home.
“Preliminary information indicates that an adult female was driving a 2008 BMW 328i southbound on Camino Del Mar,” the SDSO said in a statement. “The driver allegedly passed another vehicle on the right, lost control and ended up in the front yard of a residence.”
The unidentified driver was hospitalized with serious injuries, while an adult male passenger was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, deputies said.
“Another adult male passenger succumbed to his injuries on scene, the statement continued. “Drugs or alcohol were believed to be a factor in the collision.”
The cause of the crash is under investigation by the SDSO’s North Coastal Traffic Division.
