HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A celebration of native plants and all things green returned to Henrico's Dorey Park on Saturday. The Plant Native! Festival brought together vendors, farmers, families and plant lovers for a day of education and celebration. The event featured information booths, kid s' activities, free plant vouchers and more, giving attendees a chance to learn about the role of native plants in our ecosystem. "Native plants are important to plant instead of invasives because they support our pollinators the best," said Jordan Foxwell, Keep Henrico Beautiful communications coordinator. "Since invasive species are from other places, they do not provide the proper nutrition or shelter for our native pollinators, and they also choke out other native plants as well."
