RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Police and the School of Pharmacy held a Drug Take Back Day event on Saturday to promote medication safety and community wellness. Community members could bring unused and unwanted medications to the event at Monroe Park and discard th em safely during National Pharmacy Week this year, between Oct. 18 and 24. October is also American Pharmacists Month. "There are a lot of safety factors at risk, especially if you have children in your home," said student Vrushali Papaiya. "They can get into cabinets that you're not expecting and so it's a really good idea to just keep track of what you have in your home and if you don't need it, there are so many ways to dispose of them."
