Oct 23, 2026
Kathy passed away on October 14, 2026, in Park City, Utah, at the age of 71 from metastatic colorectal cancer. She was born in Salt Lake City on November 10, 1954, to Byron D. Jones and Margaret Adamson Jones. She had a sister, Janet Jones, and a brother, Wade Jones.
She graduated with honors fr
om South High School and earned her MBA from the University of Utah. Kathy worked as a Certified Financial Planner for 40 years. She will be remembered for her kindness and love for her clients, and for the genuine joy she took in helping friends and clients reach their goals.
Kathy was a concert pianist and at one point played in a band. She absolutely loved music. She was also an avid runner who completed more than six marathons. She loved being a mom to her son Xavier and was a frequent face on the sidelines of his football games.
She was fun to be around, a walking dictionary, a good dancer, and a lover of jazz. She was deeply invested in helping others. She enjoyed playing the piano, pilates, running, walking around her beautiful neighborhood, and reading a good book— especially Sherlock Holmes and mysteries.
She married Harry Price in Montego Bay, Jamaica, on February 7, 1987. They had a son, Xavier Ray Price, born November 7, 1997.
Kathy loved traveling with her family. She enjoyed visiting her son in Philadelphia and cherished trips to Tuscany, Florence, and Maui. She was a lover of good food and wine and often stressed the value of a good glass of wine paired with food. Her favorite food was salmon.
She was a football and basketball fan, especially of the University of Utah. You could find her screaming at the TV during Utah games, celebrating every BYU mistake and loss. She also followed the Utah Jazz and the Philadelphia Eagles.
Some words that describe Kathy are disciplined, diligent, smart, flexible, helpful, and protective. She was strong and caring, known for standing up for what she believed in even if she stood alone. She was very reassuring when speaking about others’ insecurities or worries.
Kathy showed tremendous strength and a positive attitude throughout her battle with cancer. She never gave up and wanted to continue fighting, even after entering hospice. During this time, she deepened her relationships with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband Harry Price and her son Xavier Ray Price. She is also survived by Janet’s children Cheri Webster (Greg) and Mike Greensides, along with Wade’s children Kristin, Brian, Dan (Tana), and Emily. She is survived by her beloved cats Gabby and Coco, as well as her dog Kenya. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Janet Jones, and brother Wade Jones.
