The annual holiday celebration will take place from 3-8 p.m. and bring together residents, local organizations and community supporters. AEDF hosted an unveiling event Oct. 19 at The Patterson in New Orleans, where elected officials, sponsors and representatives of the Krewe of ALLA and Krewe of NOMTOC gathered for the first look at this year’s bonfire design. The two Carnival organizations partnered to raise funds for construction of the bonfire, which is being built by Eric Arvidson. “The Algiers Bonfire Concert is a beautiful expression of traditions, community spirit, and holiday magic that make our side of the river so special,” said Dr. Stanton McNeely, president of the Krewe of ALLA, in a prepared statement. The collaboration also coincides with two milestones for the Krewe of NOMTOC and its parent organization, the Jugs Social Club. The club is celebrating its 75th anniversary, while NOMTOC is marking its 56th annual Carnival parade. Theo C. Sanders III, president of the Jugs Social Club and Krewe of NOMTOC, said the partnership reflects the organizations’ commitment to preserving community traditions. “As we celebrate 75 years of Jugs Social Club and its 56th annual Krewe of NOMTOC parade, we are honored to continue the tradition as one club, one family, and one tradition,” Sanders said in a prepared statement. The Oct. 19 unveiling also recognized Ochsner West Bank Medical Center’s sponsorship and the involvement of community partners supporting the event. “This unveiling brought together the people and partners who make the Algiers Bonfire possible,” AEDF Board Chairman Erik Garcia said in a prepared statement. AEDF said it continues to seek sponsorships and community support as preparations move forward for the Dec. 5 celebration. ...read more read less
