A 35-year-old man was arrested on more than a dozen child sex abuse-related charges after an investigation into an in-home San Diego daycare at his residence, San Diego police said Thursday. Abhishek Sareen, who resided at the in-home daycare Lotus Learners Montessori School, pleaded not guilty T hursday to 19 felony charges related to child sexual abuse and possession of child sexual abuse material, according to the San Diego Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Sareen was ordered held without bail. Prosecutors say Sareen abused at least three young girls at the school — now all known as Jane Doe. Two of those victims are ages 4 and 6, and investigators are still working to identify the third victim. SDPD reported there are at least three potential victims, and the victims of those two families have been contacted. The allegations came to light when Google flagged “child pornography” and that tip made its way to San Diego police. Sareen is accused of both possessing child pornography starting in 2024, then abusing three young girls at that daycare beginning last year. Investigators were continuing to review all evidence to determine if there are additional victims and were working to contact all families of children enrolled at the center. The investigation determined that Sareen had regular access to an unknown number of children through the daycare, which serves children ages 2 to 5 and is located in the 14100 block of Korrey Drive, just west of Carmel Mountain Road and north of Ted Williams Parkway. The facility was licensed in 2011, according to the California Department of Social Services. The facility had two unannounced inspections, one in Jan. 2026 and another in 2023. In the more recent inspection, the facility was given a citation for not having immunizations on file, according to the California Department of Social Services. NBC 7 reached out to the family for a statement and a lawyer declined on their behalf. Lotus Learners has three locations – the one in Rancho Peñasquitos, another in Sabre Springs, and a third in Carmel Mountain Ranch, licensed to Sareen’s brother. Prosecutors said the case has moved so quickly in part because the nature of the allegations are so serious. Sareen was arrested on Monday night after the allegations came to light. No children were present at the time of his arrest, the San Diego Police Department reported. The daycare has voluntarily closed for 30 days. If convicted, Sareen is facing more than 330 years to life in prison. He will appear back in court in January. Police said the Community Care Licensing Division, under the California Department of Social Services, has been notified of the arrest and investigation. State licensing holds the authority to determine whether the center should remain open.
