Seven Trends Shaping How Organizations Lead, Connect, and Build Trust in 2027
The Moore Agency announced the release of M.Cast 2027: The Human Machine Economy, the agency’s third annual trends report examining the forces shaping business, communications, culture, leadership, and trust. Devel
oped by Moore’s partners and trend leaders, the report identifies seven emerging trends that will influence how organizations operate, connect with audiences, and make decisions in an increasingly AI-driven world.
According to the report, 2027 represents a hinge year. Artificial intelligence is evolving from a productivity tool into an organizational actor, while many of the signals leaders have relied upon for decades are becoming less reliable. In a world where clicks no longer guarantee interest, comments may not come from real people, and traditional demographic assumptions are losing relevance, Moore argues that leaders must adopt a futurist mindset to recognize emerging signals and act before change becomes disruption.
The report will launch nationally on October 19 at the Public Relations Society of America’s (PRSA) ICON conference in Orlando, where Terrie Ard, APR, CPRC, President and Chief Operating Officer at Moore, will present its findings to public relations professionals, communications leaders, and decision-makers from across the country.
“Organizations can no longer afford to wait for certainty,” said Ard. “The leaders who thrive in the human and machine economy will be those who can identify emerging signals, anticipate change, and make deliberate decisions about where technology should lead and where human judgment remains essential.”
M.Cast has become Moore’s signature annual forecast of the trends shaping business, communications, culture, and leadership, helping organizations anticipate change before it becomes disruption. The report combines research, strategic analysis, and cross-disciplinary expertise to help leaders pressure-test assumptions, uncover opportunities, and prepare for what’s next.
This year’s report explores seven trends:
The Orchestration Advantage: Rise of the AI Conductor
Verified Voices: The New Standard for Influence
Out of Sync: Life Stages Are Losing Their Timing
Cognitive Debt: When We Let the Machine Do the Thinking
Made by People: The Edge in the Age of Infinite AI
The Simple Button: Optimized for Machines, Chosen by People, Built for Trust
Intent Intelligence: The Metric That Matters
This year’s report also introduces a dedicated Trust Factor within every trend. With trust emerging as a defining thread across the report, M.Cast positions it is as the operating system of growth with organizations increasingly judged, chosen, and recommended by both people and machines based on trust.
Taken together, the seven trends point to a central message: organizations must embrace AI’s capabilities while protecting the distinctly human qualities that make them worth choosing.
“The machine gets stronger, but the human must too,” Ard said. “Success in 2027 will belong to leaders who can move quickly with technology while preserving the judgment, relationships, and trust that machines cannot replicate.”
