NFLPA calls for ‘full investigation' into Jalen Hurts situation
Oct 20, 2026
The NFL Players Association has called for a full investigation into the Jalen Hurts situation.
Just hours after the NFL’s chief medical officer Dr. Allen Sills defended the Eagles’ medical staff for its handling of the events with Hurts, the NFLPA released the following statement to reporter
s on Tuesday evening:
“The NFLPA is not aware of any NFL investigation into the medical care provided to Jalen Hurts. In fact, the league previously informed the union that it did not plan to review the care he received. Before conclusions are drawn about how this situation was handled, there must be a full investigation into what occurred. Determining the facts is essential to ensuring players receive the highest level of care and protection going forward.”
Earlier on Tuesday, The Athletic reported that the NFL has already concluded the situation “was handled appropriately” by the Eagles. The NFLPA has now called for a full investigation.
Hurts, 28, is expected to miss the rest of the 2026 season after it was discovered that he has blood clots in his lungs. Hurts played in London in Week 5 with a superficial blood clot in his calf and traveled back with the team after the game. He has since been placed on IR and is now going on blood thinners, which will keep him out the rest of the year.
Based on a joint statement released by the Eagles and Hurts’ agent Nicole Lynn on Monday, Hurts is clinically stable and expected to make a full recovery.
