Unidos en el Arte, an annual exhibition of Latino artists from Baltimore and beyond, opened on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at Creative Alliance in Highlandtown. The exhibition began as a single show four years ago but has grown to be a neighborhood tradition. Newcomers and longtime Baltimoreans alike a re not only welcomed in showing their work, but they are also celebrated for it. The show features Latino artists spanning different styles, many of whom mix traditional craft with contemporary fine art, honoring heritage and experimentation. Unidos en el Arte is described as more than just an exhibition, but the embodiment of community showing up for its artists. It is a tradition “built on supportive relationships between artists, families, and neighbors in Highlandtown and across the city,” reads the Creative Alliance website. The exhibition began the day after the end of Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15–Oct. 15, 2026), but celebrating one’s roots, culture, and traditions is never limited to constraints imposed by a calendar. Multiculturalism is an omnipresent benefit all year around, and sharing art adds depth to neighborhoods and relationships within them. According to the U.S. Census website, as of July 1, 2025, Baltimore City’s population is around 8.2 percent Latino. The exhibition is free to all, and runs through Friday, Dec. 4, 2026, in the Amalie Rothschild Gallery at Creative Alliance, which is located at 3134 Eastern Avenue in Highlandtown. ...read more read less
