I always like to mix in some positive stats with the inevitable negative stuff in my weekly Roob’s Eagles Stats.  It’s getting harder to do that each week. After that game? We didn’t start doing the Eagles Stats piece until 2022, so we’ve never had to deal with a four-game losing stre ak or an offense this putrid or a defense that allows so many 4th-quarter points. So we will continue to do our best to mix in some good with the bad. But this week there just isn’t that much good. Rest assured, we tried. SCROUNGING FOR POSITIVE TANNER STATS: With one TD pass and no interceptions, McKee now has six touchdown passes and one interception in seven career games. He’s only the sixth quarterback in NFL history with six or more touchdowns and one or fewer interceptions in his first seven career games. The others are Mike Rae in 1976, Bruce Gradkowski in 2006, former Eagle Cody Kessler in 2016, Tua Tagovailoa in 2020 and C.J. Stroud in 2023. Only McKee and Gradkowski have thrown seven TDs and one or fewer interceptions in their first seven games among QBs drafted in the sixth round or later. HE DOESN’T THROW INTERCEPTIONS: McKee has thrown just one career interception in 133 pass attempts. Out of 726 quarterbacks in NFL history who’ve thrown at least 100 passes, McKee has the 3rd-best career interception ratio. He trails only former Carson Wentz college teammate Easton Stick, currently with the Bucs, who’s thrown one INT in 175 attempts, and Jim Sorgi, who threw one INT in 156 attempts with the Colts from 2004 through 2009. Next on that list are Dillon Gabriel (two in 185 attempts), Caleb Williams (14 in 1,221 attempts), Tommy DeVito (three in 227 attempts) and Jaxon Dart (five in 373 attempts). GOEDERT TIES WESTBROOK: With six catches Sunday, Dallas Goedert increased his career total to 426, which ties Brian Westbrook for 4th-most in Eagles history. Goedert now trails only Harold Carmichael (589), Zach Ertz (582) and Pete Retzlaff (452) in Eagles history. Including postseason, Goedert now has 482 total catches and needs just 18 to become the 26th tight end with 500 career receptions.  OK, LET’S GET TO THE TERRIBLE STUFF: WORST SINCE 1938: During their four-game losing streak, the Eagles have been outgained by 127, 243, 176 and 177 yards by the Bears, Rams, Jaguars and Panthers. This is the first time in 89 years the Eagles have been outgained by 125 yards or more in four straight games. In Weeks 3 through 6 of the 1938 season, they were outgained by 252 yards by the Giants, 184 by the Bears, 170 by the Giants and 237 by Washington. This is also the first time in 54 years they’ve been outgained by over 700 yards in a four-game span and the largest yardage margin over four games against the Eagles since Weeks 9 through 12 of the 1972 season, when they were outgained by 792 yards by the Oilers (111), Cowboys (195), Giants (281) and Washington (205). The Eagles have been outgained by an NFL-high 650 yards so far, the most through Week 6 since 1999 and 2nd-most since 1971. The Eagles have been outgained by 175 or more yards in back-to-back home games after being outgained by 175 or more yards in just four of their previous 438 home games. Last time they were outgained by 175 yards in back-to-back home games was – of course – in 1999. THEY CAN’T RUN THE BALL: On the heels of 18-for-22 rushing against the Jaguars, the Eagles without Saquon Barkley, Tank Bigsby and Will Shipley ran 13 times for 35 yards against the Panthers. So they are now 31-for-57 rushing over the last two games. This is only the second time since 1955 they’ve had fewer than 60 rushing yards in a two-game span. In 2005, they had overlapping stretches against the Chiefs and Cowboys with 47 yards and Cowboys and Chargers with 43 yards. Before that you have to go back 71 years to find a worse stretch. In October 1955, they were 29-for-43 against the Browns and 31-for-8 against the Steelers back when sacks counted as negative rushing yards. The Eagles’ 1.84 rushing average over the last two weeks matches their worst since that two-game stretch in 1955 when they averaged 0.9 yards per run. The Eagles’ 26 rushing first downs are their fewest through six games since 2005, when they had 21. THEY CAN’T MOVE THE BALL: The Eagles have netted 248, 172, 232 and 222 yards of offense during the four-game losing streak for an average of 218.5 yards per game. That’s their worst offensive output in a four-game span in 27 years, since Weeks 2 through 5 of the 1999 season, when they averaged 184 yards against the Bucs, Bills, Giants and Cowboys. They also had four-game stretches with fewer yards in 1991 and 1998, but that’s it since 1977. This is also the first time since that same stretch in 1999 they’ve gone four straight games without gaining 250 yards. Their streak of three straight games averaging less than 4.0 yards per play is also their longest since early in 1999 and their 3.52 yards per play over the last three weeks is their worst since – surprise – September of 1999.  JUST THREE TAKEAWAYS: The Eagles’ three takeaways are tied with the Cowboys and Colts for fewest in the NFL. There have only been three seasons in which the Eagles had fewer than three takeaways through six games – 1936, 1937 and 2024. The Eagles have no takeaways in four of their first six games for only the second time in franchise history (but the second time in three years). NIGHTMARE THIRD QUARTER: The Eagles still haven’t scored a touchdown in the third quarter this year and they have only two field goals to show for their first six third quarters. This is the first time since the last three games of 1998 and the first six games of 1999 they’ve had this long a streak of third quarters without a touchdown. PASSING YARDS MARGIN: During the four-game losing streak, the Eagles have been outgained through the air by 106, 241, 96 and 86 yards, the first time in franchise history they’ve been outgained by 85 yards or more through the air four games in a row. It happened three times in a row in 1999 and again in 2020. The four-game total of 529 yards they’ve been out-passed by is 5th-largest against the Eagles since 1958. THIS AND THAT: The Eagles are 1-for-9 on fourth down over their last four games. That’s their worst 4th-down conversion percentage in any four-game stretch in which they went for it on at least five fourth downs since they were 0-for-5 in a four-game stretch in 1993 … The Eagles share the NFL lead with 26 3-and-out drives out of 46 total drives. After halftime they’ve gone 3-and-out an NFL-high 18 times out of 28 total drives … Chuba Hubbard’s 96 rushing yards after halftime are the most in a second half against the Eagles since the Packers’ Aaron Jones had 114 after halftime in the Packers’ 30-16 win over the Eagles at Lambeau in 2020 and most at the Linc since Ezekiel Elliott had 97 in the Cowboys’ 27-20 win in 2018 … The Eagles’ defense has been forced to play 36:53, 32:00, 35:02 and 34:48 the last four weeks, an average of 34:45. That’s the most they’ve had to play in a four-game stretch since 2021, when they played an average of 35:12 over four games … This is the first year since sacks became an official stat that the Eagles have had eight or fewer sacks and three or fewer interceptions through Week 6 … In the first three quarters, the Eagles are allowing 4.7 yards per play, 38 percent on third down and 13.2 points per game. In the fourth quarter they’re allowing 6.0 yards per play, 52 percent on third down and 9.7 points per game. ...read more read less
