HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Henrico County's Sadler Road Realignment and Improvements project is seeing significant progress according to a new update from the county. In a Facebook post, Henrico County stated that "construction has finished on both roundabouts, and a portion of the shared-use pa th is completed and ready for users." The county also said that the road has been widened and is now open between Old Sadler Road and Willow Gate Drive. The project initially began earlier this year on Feb. 9 between Sadler Grove Road and Sadler Green Lane for utility work, roundabout construction and to realign the roadway. "As you've been traveling through the corridor and navigating the detours, just be aware that this is not the final driving surface," said Assistant Director of Public Works Jason Bass. "Toward the end of the project, we'll be driving on the final surface layer.” Previous coverage: Portion of Sadler Road to close for months for road improvement project The project is expected to cost $42 million and encompasses improvements on a 1.9 mile stretch of Sadler Road between Dominion Boulevard and Cedar Forest Road. Here are the remaining road closures for the project's next phases: Between Willow Gate Drive and the entrance to the Sadler Crest subdivision from Sept. 14 – early winter 2026.
