A bicyclist died Sunday, five days after he was struck by a charter bus in Laurel, Delaware, according to the Delaware State Police. Troopers said the crash occurred on Sussex Highway (U.S. 13) on Oct. 6 at approximately 4:20 p.m. According to state police, a Van Hool charter bus was traveling south in the left lane while a bicyclist was traveling south on the shoulder of the road. A preliminary investigation found that the bicyclist crossed the southbound lanes to enter a dedicated left-turn lane and, while doing so, entered the path of the charter bus, troopers said. Officials said the bus struck the bicyclist despite the driver’s attempts to avoid the crash. The bicyclist, identified as 69-year-old Lawrence Schreiber of Laurel, Delaware, was taken to a hospital following the crash. He died on Oct. 11, according to troopers. The driver of the charter bus, a 57-year-old man from New York, and the bus passengers were not injured. Troopers are asking anyone who witnessed this crash to please contact Master Corporal K. Argo by calling (302) 703-3264.  Information can also be provided by sending a private Facebook message to the Delaware State Police or contacting Delaware Crime Stoppers at (800) 847-3333. ...read more read less
