NOTTOWAY COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) –– A 75-year-old Lunenburg County woman is dead and two others are hurt after a wrong-way head-on crash in Nottoway County Sunday night. Around 6:55 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 11, Virginia State Police troopers were called to U.S. Route 460 near Piney Green Road in Nottowa y County for a two-vehicle head-on crash involving a wrong-way driver. Police said a preliminary investigation indicates that a 2008 Ford Fusion was heading eastbound in the westbound lanes of Route 460 when it collided head-on with a westbound 2026 Honda Civic. The driver of the Ford Fusion –– 75-year-old Gertrude Hargrove of Lunenburg County's Kenbridge area, who was not wearing a seat belt –– died at the scene. A passenger in the Ford Fusion, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
