Donald Trump has never been shy about defending his brand. But his latest meltdown has people wondering whether he still believes what he’s posting or what Natalie Harp shares on his social pages. The president spent the night firing off not one, but two, furious Truth Social posts over a s ingle photograph he claims embarrassed him just weeks before some of the most powerful leaders on the planet are due to show up on his doorstep. Trump National Doral Miami, where the president plans to host world leaders for the G20 summit in December, is at the center of his latest feud with The New York Times. (Photo by Charles McQuillan/Getty Images) It’s the latest round in Trump’s long-running war with The New York Times, and this time the fight isn’t about polls, policy, or a pointed question in the briefing room. This time, it’s about the condition of one of his most prized properties and whether the Times’ photo was real. ‘They PAY For This?’: Leaked Photos of Trump’s $300K Golf Club Buffet Leave Folks Gagging as Critics Point Out His Other Club’s Disgusting Violations ‘What Do You See?’: Trump Didn’t Expect This Davos Moment to Go Viral — But Cameras Capture a Strained Moment He Couldn’t Control The photo shows the clubhouse at Trump National Doral Miami, his sprawling golf resort in South Florida, looking yellowed, streaked and badly in need of a power wash. Trump swears the paper “doctored” it to make his resort look like a dump. The Times says it has the receipts to prove otherwise, and people who’ve actually set foot on the property were quick to back the paper up. The image ran alongside a Sunday article by chief White House correspondent Peter Baker that used Doral to show how far Trump has pushed presidential ethics. During his first term, Trump’s plan to host the 2020 G7 summit at the resort sparked so much backlash that he scrapped it. Now he’s set to host the G20 summit there in December, and the move has barely made a ripple. “The New York Times, in writing a story about one of the finest and most successful resorts anywhere in the World, Trump National Doral, in Miami, posted a picture where the facade has been blackened and denigrated by them in order to make it look shoddy, filthy, and just plain BAD,” Trump wrote around 4 p.m. “They want World Leaders to see this, knowing it is not the ‘TRUMP’ way.” Next to the Times image, he posted a gleaming, bright-white shot of the building and claimed that was what the facade “actually” looks like. The president branded the story “Artificial News,” dismissed Baker and fellow Times reporter Maggie Haberman as “Third Rate Reporters.” He also predicted the paper would one day “be forced to close its dirty doors.” Hours later, he was still stewing. “Think of it, The New York Times DOCTORED the picture of the beautiful exterior facade of Doral, in Miami, trying to make it look as bad as possible,” Trump wrote late Monday night at 10:52 p.m. “These people are STONE COLD LOSERS — Totally dishonest. That’s why they’re going TO HELL, and their subscription numbers are way down!” he continued. The Times wasn’t having it. “This image is not doctored,” a spokesperson told Newsweek. “It was taken by a Times photographer in 2020 and accompanies our report about President Trump walking back his decision in 2019 to host the G7 summit at Doral.” The outlet noted that Trump offered no proof the photo was altered beyond placing a brighter picture next to it. Newsweek also reviewed archival Getty Images photos of the resort from 2023 and 2026, which appear to show the same discoloration and weathering on the facade. HuffPost reported that videos on the resort’s own social media pages also seem to undercut the president’s claim. Needless to say, plenty of people sided with the publication after the image exposed what he didn’t want seen. “As someone who’s played at Doral, the Times photo is accurate,” one user wrote on X, adding that Trump’s polished version “isn’t even remotely representative” of the club’s real condition. Some people argued that photos on the resort’s website and Facebook page matched the image published by the NY Times. “The pictures show a shoddy, bug infested shack of a hotel. Instead of complaining, Fix it, dude. I’m sure your pool guy has hotel friends,” someone else pointed out. Another said, “I believe the photo shown by the NYT to be more accurate than the A.I. generated bs that Trump is trying to gaslight people about.” One person pulled a recent photo of the resort from Yelp: “Looks pretty dull and dingy.” Many believe the image Trump shared was AI-generated, similar to other images he shares on Truth Social and through White House pages. One person called him a “self-centered egomaniac” and a “big baby” for crashing out online. “The cleaned up publicity image isn’t even remotely representative of the damage you’ve done to that club. Like all of your properties. Let alone how s—y and overpriced the food is.” “It is what it is. I have been there. The place is filthy and in desperate need of a major facelift. Look what he did to the Kennedy Center in less than a year. Guy ruins everything he touches,” another person pointed out. One commenter gave the building a little grace, but none to Trump. “It’s Miami. It’s hard to keep buildings pristine and without mold,” they wrote. “It’s not crazy to have issues. But, it’s insane to create fake photos and lie about it.” Others felt the paint job was never the point because he should not be hosting a summit of world leaders on a golf course. This isn’t the first time Trump has insisted something looks perfect while the pictures say otherwise. In August, he rushed to declare the Reflecting Pool “better than ever“, even as photos and court records poked holes in his story.  Around the same time, his excuse for the White House ballroom project blew up in his face. And when it comes to the press, he rarely takes criticism quietly. Just weeks ago, he exploded at a female reporter and called her a “stalker” over a story about 9/11, another entry in a long list of public blowups at journalists who don’t tell the story the way he wants it told. Come December, world leaders will get to see Doral with their own eyes. Then everyone will know which picture was telling the truth. President Trump SCOLDED the NYT again for DOCTORING the picture of the beautiful exterior facade of Doral, in Miami, trying to make it look as bad as possible. "These people are STONE COLD LOSERS — Totally dishonest. That’s why they’re going TO HELL, and their subscription numbers are way down!" What they did is TOXIC. They almost certainly ran it through online tools, most likely SI, specifically to make the photo look worse.— JJ (@jesseyjay94) October 6, 2026 ‘The Place Is Filthy’: Trump Unleashes on ‘Losers’ After Viral Photo Exposes What He Didn’t Want Seen at His Golf Club Ahead of the G20 ...read more read less
