BATON ROUGE mdash; A Baton Rouge area food truck will close permanently on Oct. 31, roughly a year after they opened, with its owners citing rising fuel and food costs.Bayou Buns and Wingz, known for serving food at festivals and events across South Louisiana, announced the upcoming closure in a so cial media post."We're sad to see it go. We've gone back and forth over if this was the right decision or not for the past several months," the owners said. The owners said rising food prices made it increasingly difficult to turn a profit. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, beef prices are up nearly 6% compared to last year.Fuel prices have also surged: AAA reports Louisiana's average gas price is up more than $1 a gallon from this time last year, while dieselmdash;which powers the truckmdash;is up about $2.50 a gallon.nbsp; After sharing the news online, the owners heard from other local business owners who are facing similar financial pressure."Once we made that post, we had some local businesses that we're friends with reach out and say they're in the same boat. They're struggling as well," the owners said. The owners said they are grateful for the customers who supported them and hope people will continue to support small businesses."There's a ton of mom-and-pop, family-owned businesses that are all struggling," the owners added.nbsp; The owners plan to sell the food truck following the closure, though they hope to run another restaurant or food truck in the future. To find out where the food truck will be stationed over the next two weeks, click here.Permalink| Comments ...read more read less
