(BCN) -- A 44-year-old man appears to have killed his 14-year-old daughter, a 7-year-old son and then himself at their home about eight miles south of Ukiah, the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office said Saturday. The incident in the 6300 block of Old River Road was discovered Friday morning, Capt. Qu incy Cromer said in a press release. "Initial evidence and interviews indicate the adult male killed the two children and then committed suicide at the residence," Cromer said. The father's name was withheld until his next of kin can be found and notified, while the names of the children were withheld because of their age, Cromer said. Girl drove over newborn in Moss Landing after giving birth: sheriff The Sheriff's Office was notified that two children had been found in need of medical help at the home in a 911 call transferred from the California Highway Patrol about 10:20 a.m. Friday. People at the property put the children in their vehicle and drove north on Old River Road to meet emergency medical crews at the Mendocino County Office of Education, just south of Talmage Road. The children were unresponsive and had no pulses, the Sheriff's Office said. Medics and other first responders performed CPR and other advanced lifesaving work on both children, without success. Law enforcement from around the county, along with medics and firefighters, had been sent to Old River Road. Officers who went to the house found the children's father dead. "Investigators are still conducting interviews and gathering evidence related to this investigation, but a possible motive is not being released at this stage of the investigation," the Sheriff's Office said. There were no outstanding suspects and there was no continuing threat to the community, Cromer said. Sheriff's Office chaplains were sent to help family members and first responders. Autopsies on the children and their father have been scheduled. The official cause and manner of death have yet to be determined.
