As of Oct. 2, Breeze Airways resumed nonstop service to New Orleans from the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport. The flight was announced in September. “We welcome the return of Breeze’s nonstop service to New Orleans,” Dan Mann, Executive Director of the Louisville Regional Airport Authority, which owns and operates SDF, said in an Oct. 2 news release. “New Orleans has consistently been a popular destination for our community, and this route makes it easier than ever for travelers to enjoy the food, music and culture of the Big Easy. We appreciate Breeze’s continued investment in Louisville and its commitment to providing convenient, affordable nonstop options for our passengers.” The return of this route brings travelers an easy option to get directly to the Gulf Coast and back. The service to New Orleans will be offered year-round from twice per week on Mondays and Fridays with a 137-seat Airbus A220-300 aircraft, according to the release. In addition to the returned New Orleans flight, Breeze Airways has recently launched new flights to Pittsburgh and seasonal flights to Los Angeles and Hartford, Connecticut. The low-cost airline has also increased service to Tampa, Florida from seasonal to year-round and has upped flights to Fort Meyers, Florida to four times per week in the winter and spring. “Breeze Airways’ continued growth at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport is a strong vote of confidence in our community,” Anthony Gilmer, vice president of air service development and strategic marketing for the Airport Authority, said in the release. “Louisville and New Orleans share centuries-old ties rooted in trade, river commerce and culture that have connected these two iconic American cities for generations. This nonstop service builds on that history, giving travelers more affordable options and bringing new visitors and business to our region. We appreciate Breeze’s partnership and look forward to our continued growth.” Louisville’s airport received $4 million in incentives during the 2026 legislative session to boost its pursuit of new nonstop routes to bring to the airport, The Courier Journal previously reported. Additionally, the airport is continuing to undergo capital improvements as part of a $1 billion effort dubbed the SDF Next Program, which has already brought a new baggage claim area and parking upgrades to the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport, 600 Terminal Drive, The Courier Journal previously reported. The upgrades are expected to also add new gate seating and a two-story dining option, among other things. Reporter Matthew Glowicki contributed to this report.
