Two men wanted in connection with the stabbing of an off-duty NYPD detective during an apparent robbery attempt in the Bronx last week have been arrested in Massachusetts, police said Wednesday. D’Angelo Caraballo and Sneider Mejia were found hiding in a basement overnight in the city of Lynn, about 15 miles from Boston, by NYPD detectives assigned to the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force. The Boston Regional Fugitive Task Force assisted in the investigation. Investigators say the off-duty police officer was stabbed seven times in the attack near the intersection of East 206th Street and Rochambeau Avenue in Norwood on Friday. Police at the scene said he got those injuries defending himself from the two suspects. The officer was taken to a hospital and is expected to be OK. Investigators had said they were looking for two suspects seen riding away from the scene on an e-bike. It wasn’t immediately clear if Caraballo and Mejia had attorneys or when they’d return to the city to face charges. This story originally appeared on NBCNewYork.com. ...read more read less
