In New Jersey, two adults and a baby were hospitalized after several cars were hit by an out of control SUV driver apparently on the run from police. Cell phone video showed the tense moments as police pulled the baby from one of the mangled cars in Linden on Monday afternoon. The four-car crash happened shortly before 3 p.m. on Linden Avenue. Authorities said the baby and two adults were critically injured. The relationship between all of the victims was not immediately clear. The SUV driver could been seen on video racing down the street with a couple of Linden Police cruisers following close behind, moments before the crash. Pieces of several smashed up cars were scattered across the street and a baby’s car seat sat abandoned on the road. Police in Linden have not confirmed if anyone was arrested or provide details about the apparent chase. “I was told there was a police chase involved, the suspect was trying to flee and get away from police. In doing so he tried to get around that red vehicle and slammed head on into that other vehicle,” Natalie Evertsz, a neighbor on the street, said. Evertsz’s white car was parked at the curb when the Honda carrying the baby crashed into it. “This is the second time my car has got hit just being parked in front of my house,” she said. “It doesn’t make sense to put civilians and others in jeopardy to catch one person. Neighbors said a man seen on cell phone video, lying on the ground with his hands behind his back, was the driver of the SUV. “He was in handcuffs, but he was also badly injured,” a witness said Monday. ...read more read less
